New Revenue-Generating Web Experience

The Connecticut Science Center is a vibrant hub for STEM learning in Connecticut — but it needed an online experience that reflected that same level of vibrancy. Not only did its new site need to build awareness of all the CT Science Center has to offer, it needed to drive revenues — more ticket sales, more memberships, more donations, more group/school visits, even more interest in its venue rental opportunities.
Idea
To capture the sense of wonder the museum inspires, we designed, wrote, and built a completely new online experience for the CT Science Center — packed with photojournalistic visuals and immersive interactivity. We also shot and edited lots of new video and still imagery to capture real kids immersed in “wonder-inducing” activities. And we programmed sophisticated integrations with the museum’s Tessitura CRM to ensure the online-ticket-buying experience facilitates better on-site visits.

We fully integrated the new site with Tessitura CRM to simplify the planning and purchase of tickets. Sophisticated back-end programming also supports the museum’s adoption of dynamic pricing and integrates with both Google and Apple Wallet to enable the creation of digital passes.

The new custom landing pages for key initiatives make it easier for different areas of the museum to promote their offerings — like their Pathways to STEM and Teen programming.

We also developed a custom event management/calendaring solution for the CT Science Center that allows their admin team to more easily promote onsite events and highlight what’s on today and what’s coming.

The new site features 60+ new program landing pages that bring to life the vitality of the Center’s educational programming, exploration programs, assembly shows, activity stations and activity kits.

To highlight how engaging the visitor experience truly is, the rich-media exhibits pages feature new videos and dynamically cross-sell other related exhibits and events.

The site also supports customized pathways for different types of visitors — such as individual and corporate donors or different levels of membership.
Impact
Already the site has earned prestigious national and regional awards for its design. Better still, it has empowered better online marketing, streamlined onsite ticket buying, and paved the way for more pre- and post-visit follow ups.
